This guide will help you understand when you need copyright permission and when you do not. This is the best place to start if you are new to making copyright determinations in your teaching.

Fair Dealing Advisory

Fair dealing is an exception in the Copyright Act that allows reuse of works, for specific purposes (like education), without permission. The advisory is the DESC’s guidance on using this exception in your teaching. The advisory is most useful when copying print material or material made freely available online.
