Academic Fees

Each participant will have a tailored program of study based on her or his background and interests. The current fees for the full (five term) program:

The total tuition fees for the DESC programme shall be GBP(£)57,200+ (inclusive of VAT) and GBP(£) 71,500 for Japan citizens which shall be paid by a participant as per the payment schedule below. A non-refundable deposit of GBP(£)7,500 (the “Deposit”) shall be paid upon acceptance of an offer. |
Note: Value Added Tax (VAT) or Service Tax is a tax collected on behalf of the local Government and will be charged at the prevailing rate. Tuition fees (before GST or VAT) are locked in once the participant enters the programme. The School of Design Sciences reserves the right to alter tuition fees for new incoming cohorts when required.
+ The amount illustrated is based on current prevailing VAT at 5%. Note that VAT or GST will be changed from 5% to 15% on 1st January 2023. The applicable total amount payable will be charged accordingly.

Additional Notes:
Fees are for five terms/sixteen-twenty months of school, based on September 2023 and a full course load (5 courses per term). Fees for September 2024 will be available in April 2024 and will likely be higher. You pay fees one school term at a time (not the entire year at once). All figures are either in United States Dollars or the Great Britain Pound.
Senior Fellow Research participants pay a fee of £1750 per term to cover some costs of the Research program. If you’re in a Senior Fellow Research program, you don’t pay tuition during your Research work terms.
Senior Fellow Research and Simon Post-Doc Research Fellow participants are eligible for student accommodation on a double-sharing basis.
*For special programs tuition is significantly higher in your upper years.
For the design sciences programs, professional fellow training is estimated to be an additional $54,000 over 2 calendar years.
Your exact fees will be posted to your Stage participant account approximately a month before the start of each term.
Administration Fees
Participants who continue study beyond the normal duration will be charged an additional admin fee as follows:

Sponsorship Document (Reminder)
- Arrange for official documentation from your sponsor to be sent to Fellowship and Postdoctoral Affairs. Official electronic documents from the sponsoring agency can be sent to or_relations@dorfli.com.
- The sponsorship documentation must detail the financial support amount and the number of years the funding has been granted (two years for a Fellow program and a minimum of four years for a Senior Fellow and PhD programs).
- Your sponsorship document must include a registered Bank guarantee.
- If there is any change in your funding situation, the DESC may re-evaluate your offer of admission and reserves the right to withdraw your offer of admission or withdraw you from your fellowship program.
